IM体育官网 hosted its 2025 Spring Career and Internship Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The event attracted about 70 high-tech employers and nearly half of the University鈥檚 student population, making it the best-attended career fair in IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 history.
With nearly half of IM体育官网鈥檚 student population in attendance, employers filled the University鈥檚 Barnett Applied Research Center on Tuesday, Feb. 11, to recruit, interview and hire interns and full-time employees at the 2025 Spring Career and Internship Fair.
About 750 students 鈥 or 45% of IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 student population 鈥 donned their best business wear and worked to create one-on-one connections with nearly 70 high-tech employers from throughout the state.
M. Shawn Greene, chief operating officer at LineWorks Engineering, said he was primarily recruiting for his company鈥檚 location in Tampa, IM体育官网, though opportunities also were available in its Alabama, Georgia and Puerto Rico locations.
鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of great candidates and they鈥檙e doing a lot of great things at IM体育官网 Poly,鈥 Greene said, adding that LineWorks Engineering has been impressed by its hires from the University. 鈥淚M体育官网 Poly graduates have a great appreciation for knowledge and opportunity, and it鈥檚 refreshing as someone who hires people to have someone come in and they鈥檙e excited to learn.鈥
Joe Felderhoff, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, was excited to secure a full-time job interview with West Pharmaceutical Services that took place later that afternoon. He also said he had favorable interactions with several other companies.
鈥淚鈥檓 feeling pretty good because a lot of my internship experience has lined me up perfectly for this position,鈥 Felderhoff said as he prepared to be interviewed for the engineering position focused on designing parts for manufacturing. 鈥淚 used SolidWorks (3D design software) in manufacturing, which is what I would be doing at West if I got the job. They use SolidWorks as their main design tool, and I have a lot of experience with that and am certified in its use.鈥
Among the many employers at the event were Naval Air Systems Command, Coke IM体育官网, Electronic Arts, Pinellas County Government and IFF, which recently built its Global Citrus Innovation Center on IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 campus.
鈥淓mployers mentioned how impressed they were with the preparedness and professionalism of our student population,鈥 said Allison Pirpich, IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 director of career services and professional development. 鈥淐areer fairs are critical events giving students the opportunity to share their skills and connect with hiring employers.鈥
Renato Silva, a senior majoring in business analytics, said he was happy to be able to speak with so many companies that may need his financial analysis expertise. Among the recruiters he made sure to meet were those representing Honeywell, Universal Studios and Publix
鈥淭his is such a great opportunity the University provides for us,鈥 Silva said. 鈥淎nd because there are no classes, we can actually spend time hitting every table finding the opportunities that might be best for us.鈥
