Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant is available for students working on their first bachelor鈥檚 degree who demonstrate exceptional financial need. Pell amounts are determined based on the student鈥檚 Student Aid Index (SAI) and the student鈥檚 enrollment intensity. Maximum award amounts are published by the U.S. Department of Education.

Effective July 1, 2012, the Pell Grant lifetime duration of eligibility has been set to six full years/600%. You are able to view your Pell Grant history from your dashboard.

Pell Grant amounts are subject to change yearly. In addition, students may not receive a Federal Pell Grant at more than one school at a time.

How is my Federal Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) calculated?

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is awarded to Pell-eligible students who demonstrate exceptional need. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six credits to receive this grant. It is important to complete your as soon as possible because this grant is limited.

Award amounts will depend on the allotment that IM体育官网 receives from the U.S. Department of Education and the number of students who demonstrate exceptional financial need.

Students must reapply for the each year. The priority deadline to complete the FAFSA is January 1. The Office of Financial Aid will award SEOG to students who demonstrate the highest need first. The FAFSA must have a valid SAI number to be considered; this will require a successful completion of the FAFSA. 

Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant

You may be eligible to receive the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant if:

  • You are ineligible for a Federal Pell Grant based on your expected family contribution (but meet all other criteria to qualify for Pell);
  • Your parent or guardian was a member of the U.S. armed forces and died as a result of military service performed in Iraq or Afghanistan after the events of 9/11; and
  • You were under 24 years of age or enrolled in college at least part-time at the time of your parent鈥檚 or guardian鈥檚 death.

The grant award is equal to the amount of a maximum Federal Pell Grant for the award year (July 1 鈥 June 30), but cannot exceed your cost of attendance for that award year.

  • Complete a ) every year. Your FAFSA must be received and successfully processed by the federal processing system.
  • US citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • Not be in default on a federal student loan or owe an overpayment
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
