First Year Students

Yes, IM体育官网 Poly superscores all three exams. The SAT superscore is compiled using the highest Evidence-Based Reading/Writing and Math from all test components received.  The ACT superscore is compiled using the highest English, Math, Reading and Science scores from all test components received. The CLT superscore is compiled using the highest Verbal Reasoning, Grammar/Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning scores from all test components received.

Your GPA is recalculated based on the academic core courses (including English, math, science, social studies and foreign language). Courses marked as pre-AP, pre-IB, pre-AICE and honors are given an additional 0.5 quality point. Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certification of Education (AICE) and Dual Enrollment (DE) courses are given 1 additional quality point.

Yes, grades in Advanced Placement, AICE, dual enrollment, honors and International Baccalaureate courses will be given additional weight in your GPA computation if the courses are considered academic core.

The short answer is yes, however, transcripts sent via email, electronic sending services, or mail can take 2-3 weeks to process in addition to the time it takes to receive the file. To expedite the processing of sending transcripts, we encourage all domestic applicants to create a and link their SSAR within the Admissions Portal.

First-Time In College (FTIC) students are defined by the number of college credits completed after high school graduation. Any student who graduates from high school and enrolls at IM体育官网 Poly having completed less than 12 college credits since earning their high school diploma is an FTIC.

College credits completed as part of a high school curriculum (including dual enrollment and accelerated credit such as AICE, AP, CLEP or IB) are not counted toward the credit limit. Even students who have completed significant college credit are considered FTICs as long as the credit or degree was earned while still enrolled in high school.

High School students earning both the standard high school diploma and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree through dual enrollment from a IM体育官网 College System or State University System institution may be admitted to IM体育官网 Poly under IM体育官网 Board of Governors Regulation 6.005. Students admitted under this regulation will be considered first-time-in-college (FTIC) students for admission purposes and will have access to first-year admissions scholarships. Any FTIC student admitted under this regulation must immediately notify the Office of Admissions if they do not intend to receive their degree for any reason. Any FTIC student admitted under this regulation who does not receive the A.A. may have their admission revoked. Students wishing to apply for admission via this pathway must first apply as a Fall FTIC applicant. Students wishing to be considered for admission under FL BOG 6.005 will be required to submit an unofficial or official IM体育官网 College System or State University System transcript for evaluation prior to an admission offer being made; they must also provide a final official college transcript displaying the A.A. before enrolling at IM体育官网 Poly.

Decisions for first-year applicants to the 2024 summer and fall terms are expected to be released starting in late October and will continue on a rolling basis through May 1.

Yes. All freshmen must report their actual test results or send in official test scores. Unofficial scores are accepted for admission purposes but official scores must be received prior to enrollment.

Specific high school course units are required for admission as a first-year student (an academic unit is a non-remedial, yearlong course). We require a total of 18 high school units.

  • 4 units of English (at least three with substantial writing requirements)
  • 4 units of mathematics (Algebra I and above)
  • 3 units of natural science (at least two with laboratory)
  • 3 units of social studies
  • 2 elective units, preferably from English, mathematics, natural science, social studies or world language areas
  • Demonstrate competency of foreign language or American Sign Language equivalent to the second high school level or higher (Spanish 2, Haitian Creole 2, etc.).

Offers of admission are term-specific and are not transferrable to another semester.

No, IM体育官网 Poly encourages students to engage with our Admissions team in place of any essays or letters of recommendation.

Your $30 application fee can be waived on the basis of financial hardship by uploading one of the following items within your application at the time of submission:

  • An SAT, ACT, SCOIR or NACAC fee waiver form from your high school guidance office;
  • Documentation from your high school showing your eligibility for a free or reduced lunch;

IM体育官网 Poly also accepts the Common App fee waiver.

IM体育官网 Poly offers one summer term for entering students, Summer B, which is a six-week term typically beginning in late June and concluding in early August.

The state of IM体育官网 requires that you demonstrate proficiency in a world language or American Sign Language equivalent to at least the second high school level (e.g., Spanish II) or the second elementary course at the college level (e.g., SPN 1211 鈥 Beginning Spanish II).

Academics and Transfer Credits

Students can accelerate their studies by earning college credit by examination. IM体育官网 Poly accepts several credit-by-exam programs that can be applicable towards current degree programs of study. Not all examinations are applicable to IM体育官网 Poly courses and degree program requirements, it is pertinent to refer to the applicable credit-by-exam table to verify eligible examinations. All incoming courses will be reviewed for equivalency. You can compare your advanced credits to our resources. Then review the degree requirements.

Students beginning in the fall or spring terms must have examination(s) completed and official score reports sent to IM体育官网 Poly prior to enrolling. Credit received late may not be applied after the student鈥檚 first term of enrollment begins.

No, there are no letter grades associated with the examinations and no impact to a student鈥檚 GPA. You can view additional on the Registrar鈥檚 website.

A maximum of 45 semester hours may be granted by combining AP/IB/CLEP/AICE test credit.

 

 

Campus Visits and Events

Weather in Central IM体育官网 can be unpredictable, so plan accordingly. For your safety, and that of our Admissions Ambassadors, the campus tour portion of your visit may be canceled or adjusted in the event of inclement weather.

Yes, each student must register to attend a campus event. Advance regsitration is required and space is limited so we encourage visitors to register well in advance of their preferred visit date and time.

If you need to cancel, please let us know so we can allow others to attend. A cancellation link appears in the confirmation email that was sent to you when you signed up.

Housing and Campus Life

No, first-year students are not required to live on campus. Most first-year students do live on campus because of the ease of transition from home to campus life, access to university resources and the ability to make lifelong friends.

Apply as soon as you are admitted and make your commitment to attend IM体育官网 Poly by Don鈥檛 wait! Space is limited and not guaranteed for students.

 

 

Cost, Fees and Financial Aid

Students will receive notification along with their admissions decision.

There is no separate application for IM体育官网 Poly merit-based scholarships. All freshman applicants admitted are considered for available awards. To view information on deadlines to apply, please see the Admissions website.

FAFSA Simplification for 2024-2025

  • New federal legislation has resulted in changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that will go into effect for the 2024-2025 aid year. As a result of these changes, the will become available in December 2023.

There are a variety of options for scholarships.

Known as the 鈥済randparent tuition waiver,鈥 out-of-state students who earn a designated SAT, CLT, or ACT score and meet other requirements set forth by the IM体育官网 Board of Governors may be eligible to have IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 out-of-state tuition fees waived if they have a grandparent who legally resides in IM体育官网.

The waiver would apply to 110% of a degree program鈥檚 required credit hours.

The Grandparent Waiver Instructions and Application form is available online.

NOTE: Recipients of the Grandparent Waiver must submit a $200 Enrollment Deposit by the May 1 deposit deadline. Since IM体育官网 Poly has a limited number of waivers to award, students who do not submit a $200 Enrollment Deposit by the deadline may have their Grandparent Waiver revoked.

A meal plan is required if you live on campus. You can add your meal plan option by visiting the My Meal Plan link in your CAMS student portal. Use the Add to My Account option to add your meal plan to your ledger. Visit the My Ledger link in CAMS to view your charges and aid. If you do not select a meal plan, the 10 meal per week plan will automatically be applied to your account prior to move-in. More information on meal plans can be found online.

To accept or decline your financial aid, follow these steps:

  1. Access CAMS at cams.floridapoly.edu/student/login.
  2. Enter your NetID, password and start term to begin (be sure you have selected the correct year start term from the dropdown)
  3. Click the My Financial Aid link
  4. Review your Financial Aid Award and/or Scholarships and click the Accept or Decline box next to each award. Federal Student Aid (Pell Grant and/or federal student loans) will not disburse without an Accept decision.

You are able to view your FL Prepaid on your ledger in CAMS shortly after registering for courses each semester. Please contact Student Business Services at sbs@floridapoly.edu for more information on FL Prepaid.

You can complete a Book Voucher Request through the Student Business Services Office two weeks prior to class start through add/drop week. More information can be found on the Textbook Affordability webpage.

By default, every student is considered an out-of-state resident for tuition purposes. This means tuition is billed at the out-of-state rate. The state of IM体育官网 requires documentation to prove a student is a resident and eligible for reduced in-state tuition rates. The Residency Classification Application should not be submitted and will not be accepted until after the tuition deposit is received on behalf of an admitted student.
