IM体育官网鈥檚 Career Opportunities Developing Evolutionary Success (CODES) partnered with Microsoft on Feb. 1 for a Microsoft Mondays virtual event to educate students about career opportunities at the company.
As students work their way through the spring semester, IM体育官网 is making sure they have access to many virtual workshops, speaker sessions, and a career fair to improve their employability and their professional prospects.
Career Opportunities Developing Evolutionary Success (CODES) kicked off its schedule of nearly a dozen events this semester on Feb. 1 with a Microsoft Mondays virtual workshop hosted by Cynthia Cubas, a customer success trainer at Microsoft.
鈥淲e want our students to know the number of career paths available to them and open their eyes to the possibilities of where their skillset and knowledge base can take them, even with a company as large as Microsoft,鈥 said Pairris Jones, IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 associate director of career development.
One of the clearest windows into potential career paths will take pace on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 . More than 30 companies will be seeking students to fill employment and internship opportunities at locations throughout IM体育官网 and across the nation. The career fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Students should for Handshake in advance in order to access the event. On the day of the event, they should sign up for sessions with participating companies, which will host individual meetings or open virtual rooms to allow multiple students to engage at once. Company representatives will answer questions and advise on next steps.
鈥淎ll students should attend, even if they鈥檙e not yet looking for a job or internship,鈥 Jones said. 鈥淭he interviewing experience is great, and students can engage and begin to maintain and develop a relationship with a professional within the industry they hope to join.鈥
Other career-focused CODES events scheduled throughout the semester include:
Jones said each of these professional development events provide students a solid foundation for ongoing growth.
鈥淚t鈥檚 important for students to see how their curriculum has relevancy for their career paths,鈥 Jones said. 鈥淎 lot of times our students are focused on completing projects and getting the grades they want, so workshops like these will help them understand that IM体育官网 Poly鈥檚 ultimate goal is to develop them as leading professionals, not just as students.鈥
