Dr. Jim Dewey is responsible for developing and teaching economics courses that complement the STEM focus and fit the general education program at IM体育官网.

Prior to joining IM体育官网 Poly in 2014, Dewey served as the Director of the Economic Analysis Program at the University of IM体育官网鈥檚 Bureau of Economic and Business Research. His research and scholarly works have included quantitative analyses of the impacts of the University of IM体育官网鈥檚 Clinical and Translational Science Institute on research productivity; the housing boom on municipal spending; broad reforms in special education; and a potential IM体育官网 beverage container deposit refund law. His areas of expertise include urban and regional economics, public economics, and applied microeconomics.

Dewey鈥檚 research has yielded more than $2.5 million in external funding. From 2006-10, he taught Managerial Economics at the University of IM体育官网鈥檚 Warrington College of Business Administration, where he served as a University Scholars Program faculty mentor and was 2009-10 Teacher of the Year. Prior to that, he taught Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, and Intermediate Macroeconomics at the University of South IM体育官网.

He has a doctorate in economics from the University of IM体育官网. His research interests covered Micro-Economic Theory, Industrial Organization and Public Economics. His master鈥檚 degree is in Economics from the University of South IM体育官网, where he also received his bachelor鈥檚 degree in Economics and Political Science.
